Weight types:

It doesn't matter how you go about it.... Heavier = better.

A heavier framed trampoline is more wind resistant, more grounded (way less wobbly when jumping), & usually better quality. It usually costs more money to make trampolines heavy unless other parts are sacrificed, such as not using Teflon or Polyheaster threading and they use nylon and it frays apart or the mat is not Permatron and made out of some potatoe sack looking thing.

There are no light parts on a trampoline. The mat is the lightest even if it has a heavy seat belt edging with many rows of stitching and solid fittings.

Springs should be heavy relative to their size as long as the thickness, width and length are taken into consideration. A good spring that is 9 inches long for eample should weight about .65 to .7 lbs. Anythiing les then it will stretch too mcuh and anything heavier will have too much tension for a good bounce.

Frames should definitely have some girth to them as it is the foundation and makes up most of the weight. Swaged joints are stronger than expanded. If on a rectangle model, I look for more support such as trusses and extra bracing. Heavier frames on higher end trampolines usually have less pieces to put together. When someone is jumping high with a lot of weight and pounding on it, this is when a heavy trampoline is appreciated. It's not likely it will sway and move around.

Heaviness of Pads:  If these are heavy, you prolly got a good pad. Theres nothing in them but vinyl and foam. High density foam is always gonna be heavier. A good pad considering its for the same size trampoline that weights 20 lbs is below average. Some weigh 30 lbs and some are super dense at over 40 lbs. These are the most expensive.

Some trampolines are very light and others can go up to 500 lbs. Only having more weight is good if it is needed. If someone is doing stunts and needs extra support and help with staying balanced, a more grounded trampoline can offer that.
